ABOUT ME
Felipe Maximiliano Egaña Labrin is a versatile musician and composer, currently active in several chamber music ensembles and creative projects. He is a member of Ensemble Quarttitude, where he focuses on historically informed interpretations of Classical and Romantic works, breathing new life into the music of Mozart, Haydn, and Rossini. With the Cancrizans Duo, he is delving into the complete works for flute by J.S. Bach, while the Duo Egaña de Rodas sees him exploring the repertoire for flute and plucked strings, reviving works by De Visée, Carulli, and Diabelli.
Felipe’s compositions are an eclectic fusion of styles, where baroque elements intertwine with electronic synthesizers, minimalist techniques, and school musical instruments, creating unique sonic landscapes.
As a soloist, Felipe has performed under renowned conductors like Rio Terakado, Sigiswald Kuijken, and Veronika Skuplik. He has also collaborated with ensembles such as the Bremen Baroque Orchestra, The Netherlands Bach Society, and Ensemble Los Temperamentos, performing across Europe and the Americas. Recent highlights include international festivals and concert series in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Mexico, and Chile.
Earlier in his career, Felipe participated in prestigious projects like the European Baroque Academy of Ambronay (2011) under Sigiswald Kuijken, which took him to various European stages. He also performed as a soloist with the baroque orchestra Nuevo Mundo, touring Chile and Mexico in 2013.
Born in Santiago de Chile, Felipe studied arts and music with a specialization in transverse flute at the University of Chile. He pursued advanced studies in early music with Wilbert Hazelzet at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and later completed his Master's and Konzertexamen degrees under Marten Root at the University of Arts in Bremen, Germany.
